tourists in our own state.

We love to travel. We love to explore new places and new cultures.
We love the excuse to eat every meal out and have beer or wine at 10:30 a.m..
When you're traveling, you can totally do that - guilt free.

We also loved the idea of exploring Northern Arizona
(shame of us for taking so long to explore our own state),
so over Memorial Day Weekend (since we weren't doing this) we loaded up the dog, a deck of cards and hit the road.

Oh, I swear Danny and I went on this trip... judging by the photos Hunter did a solo tour.

{northern arizona wine country}
cottonwood. cornville. jerome.
{first stop :: cottonwood's alcantara's vineyard and winery}

{Northern Arizona wine county is about 2 hours north of Phoenix. Kinda desert. Kinda not}

{hunter loooved the palette cleansing crackers}

{it was super windy, so most people were inside. not us and our pooch, we got to "enjoy" the "breeze" outside}

{Behind that fence is Beatrice, the giant german sheppard that wanted to eat Hunter}

{gripping my wine so it doesn't fly away. seriously}

{soooo happy}

{some "friends" we met who loved hunter and asked to walk him through the vineyards}

{huntie claiming his favorite vine}

{small town wine tasting. so cute}

{"wine tasting is exhausting. i'm just going to frog-out down here" - hunter}

{agressive.}

{um, dad? are you going to drop any crackers}

{jerome, a rad arizona ghost town.}
living population :: 353 (seriously)

{windy roads up a hill to jerome}

{the local biker bar... the spirit room. our hotel room was right above it}

{our room at the haunted Connor Hotel Jerome. highly recommend it}

{did you hear that?}

{our hotel and bar right in the heart of jerome. we were the fourth window from the right}

{the famous Haunted Hamburger. all the workers had their crazy ghost stories}

{view from our Haunted Hamburger dinner table - so tasty}

{such an odd/cool/weird/spooky/kitschy little town}

{a nightcap at the Spirit Room bar}

{it was dead - pun intended}

{looking up at the famously haunted Jerome Grand Hotel during a night walk}

{the story is this hotel is very haunted. it used to be an asylum for all the miners who were injured working down in the copper mines. many men died here and continue to haunt this hotel.}

{you can sign-up for 'ghost tours' here}

{through sedona we go}

{the sedona red rocks ahead}

{flagstaff}
{the hotel weatherford, a flagstaff staple}

{patio at flagstaff brewing co. - a must stop for the tings}

{introducing huntie to flag brew}

{local bluegrass in heritage square}

{huntie made friends with the kids who had kettle corn}

{hotel monte v. where we always stay}

{inside the Monte V lobby}

{beer flights at flag brew}

it was such a fun weekend and we were very proud of huntie.
we honestly had no idea how that was going to go.

if you're in phoenix and looking for a quick getaway weekend, we totally recommend northern arizona wine country and jerome - a little arizona town worth seeing for sure.
