transform your tunes.

do you have an iTunes library full of "Track 01" songs, mislabeled titles and blank album art?

so did we. that is until our friend told us about TuneUpMedia.com and i started cleaning up our iTunes library. it totally works. it's fun to see all the album art and completed song and album information come to life.

buttttt... before you get all excited, i'm going to warn you that it's not perfect. you need to be very patient and do little chunks of songs at a time because otherwise the tool will crash. i've barely made a dent in cleaning up our 12,000+ song library, but little by little we're getting there.

and another thing... here's a tip i learned the hard way: remember back in the day when you could only make a playlist like 15 songs long because you actually had to burn it to a CD? and, if you're like me you'd make some of those lists "albums" verses having a bajillion playlists (for example: a set of random songs like "80's Date Dash" or "Tiffany's Rap Jams")... point being, you need to go through your library and save these sets as actual playlists because otherwise your lovely compilation will be gone when all those songs are "scrubbed" and your mix of 80's jams is no longer recognized as an album or the artist "The Alley House Girls." Make sense? If not, you'll see what I mean when you start scrubbing and lose your very first love songs mix.

all in all, other than it requiring some attention and thought on the users part, it's a totally nifty tool. a TuneUp subscription could be a unique holiday gift for your favorite OCD music enthusiast. the gift that keeps on giving (and cleaning). or, the perfect couch activity for a cold winter day. if you have any questions, i'll be happy to answer them best i can.

  2. right? we all totally had our own style of playlist mixes. techno vs. hip hop in the alley house and OF COURSE a "pre-party" playlist for every date dash. duh.
