thanksgiving :: take two.

Right when everyone else was finally recovering from Thursday's massive feast - we were doing it all over again. On Saturday, Tricia and Earl hosted us for a Bockting Thanksgiving... ham, green bean casserole, rolls, mashed potatoes, turkey faux gravy, yams, pies and more. Meme came up from Tucson so us girls talked babies and things while Danny and Earl took on the Middle East via Playstation. Danny was like a kid in the candy store with the video game. There's no way I could live with a gammer. One day was enough.

Oh! The day started with me circling the airport for 30-minutes looking for a cellphone-less Meme. I finally decided to track down a security guard to help me find "my lost grandma" which went something like this...

Me: Hi Security guard on a Segway, I'm looking for my Grandma. She doesn't have a cell phone.
Him: Can you describe her?
Me: A little old lady with gray hair and lots of jewelery.
Him: Okay, you stay here and I'll look around and try to find her.

MeMe: Hi Teri, I wasn't lost - I knew where I was the whole time! Ha.

happy birthday, rr#1.

Wishing my Lacey Jaye the happiest of birthdays. A lifelong friend, our memories go way back to the awkward teen years..

boys. boys. boys.
volleyball tournaments.
recording "Heaven is a Place on Earth" off the radio to a cassette tape and listening to it on repeat.
learning to drive.
connecting your discman to your mom's mini van to bump the Dixie Chicks while rolling to the mall.
refusing to wear anything but Roxy branded clothing.
(why I'm wishing Roxy Representative #1 (RR#1) a very happy day!)
camping at Carlsbad State Beach every summer.
roxy stickers on pick-up trucks and the surf boards we rarely used.
swooning over Kelly Slater.
matching henna tattoos on our hawaii vacation.
swapping surf posters every Christmas.

And now.. it's matching Frenchies. Lacey Jaye and The Chad are proud Frenchie owners to little Leila.

Love you tons, Lacey Jaye.

jacob & jayden.

One of the best parts of being at home in California is spending time with our niece Jayden and nephew Jacob.

Jacob was born when I was in high school so in some ways we've grown up together. Uncle Danny met Jakey when he was just a toddler so the three of us have always been buddies. It's nuts to think the little guy is an 11-year-old middle school tween. During Thanksgiving dinner, Grandpa had us go around the table and give Jacob some advice for middle school & high school. It was entertaining to hear each generation's words of wisdom.

And then there's Miss Jayden... between the terrible twos and the fact that we're long distance relatives, it always took a while for her to warm up to us - until this trip! Now three and a half, the terrible twos are behind us and it was a blast to spend time with the little princess. We were instantly friends - she's smart, witty, absolutely adorable, completely girly and a ham for the camera.

movin' our feet before we eat.

We woke up to a chilly Thanksgiving morning in San Diego. The sun was shinning but the air was crisp and cold. The Schramm Clan kicked off the day of indulgence with a hike around Dad's trails at Discovery Lake. We had views of the city and the ocean and it was fun to be together on the one of the many trails that Dad brought to life.
