home from heaven.

the tuesday after coachella is tough. the insanely anticipated multi-day music extravaganza is over. you have to hug some of your dearest friends goodbye. the adrenaline that's kept you going around the clock for four days is gone, and the exhaustion kicks in just as you return to your office job. its time to remove your wristband, zillion friendship bracelets and your watch goes back to keeping time of office meetings - not concert times. the clash of the two worlds couldn't be more polar. it's almost surreal.

but today's tired is all worth it. we just had another weekend of a lifetime. a weekend filled with more smiles and amazing moments than some people will probably experience in a lifetime.

we've got tons of photos, videos and stories to share and they'll be coming soon. until the, look who's photo is popping up around the web in places like the Connecticut Post and Houston Chronicle.

{we finally saw Alicia on sunday, and she was exploring with me, Colby & Jenny when a photographer with Getty Images asked to snap our photo. Colbs, Jenny & me had an unplanned lacy & flower crown look goin' on. note the guy face planted and "resting" behind us - hahaha!}

"We" are also being spotted in some other awesome images around the web. And by "we" I mean our undeniably awesome balloons strapped to Colby. Here are two in the OrangeCounty.com Coachella slideshow.
{those are our double yellow balloons dancing to the sounds of Santigold on stage}

{spotted again! our ballons covered in confetti during Girl Talk's massive grass dance party!}

the time has finally come.

rain or shine, this is gonna be the best weekend ever. it always is.
and yes, i said rain. stupid la nina is heading towards the west coast.
never has coachella seen a cool day - much less rain. this year forecasts are saying wet and strong winds.
i don't believe it, but feel free to send your warm weather vibes my way.

but like my dad said, if it does rain it'll be more memorable and even more like woodstock.
 thanks, dad. always mr. positive.

a look inside our coachella preparation.

the coachella preparation is an event all of its own and i love it.
after years of doing it, we've got it down to a science.
here's a glimpse inside my getting ready rituals.

1. practicing a new hair do. the upside down french braid to top knot // 2. my laundry/craft room is an explosion of flowers, suede, feathers and lace.

3. i make friendship bracelets whenever i'm sitting in front of the tv // 4. swapping "possible looks" texts with the girls. this one didn't make the cut.

5. prepping the base tan // 6. picking out a fun home pedicure color. after a few years you learn that there's really no point in getting a professional pedi done - it's when you get back that you'll need it.

7 & 8 making my huge tubs of coachellachex, a favorite snack around our indio house.

9. packing. the week of coachella we start putting everything on our guest room bed to make sure nothing gets left behind - especially our wristbands. // 10. check lists, house keys, meal lists & grocery shopping.

11. ting gets the bikes ready to ride. // 12. playlist building for the drive to indio and around the house.

13. my funky new festival manicure design. don't you love it? // 14. hundreds of glowsticks.

let's do this.

2012 coachella set times are up!

finalllly! and i'm not even seeing the set times on coachella's website yet. i happened to start following coachella on instagram yesterday and i'm so glad i did. i just happened to check my instagram feed two minutes after they posted photos of the line up. love social media. sorry for the blur, snagged off twitter.

eat your brussels sprouts, mister.

why do brussels sprouts have such a bad rap? they're delicious! and we just figured this out. i also just realized that brussels sprouts is spelled like so... i'd always thought it was one word. i digress.

danny and i love veggies, but we find ourselves eating the same ones all. the. time. it feels like brussels sprouts are the trendy veggie of the moment (well, behind kale) so i picked some up and decided to give them a whirl.

how we made them:
- cleaned & cut in half
- tossed 'em in olive oil, salt & pepper
- roasted in the oven at 400° for 45-minutes
 - sprinkled with parmesan cheese

although both our moms say we did, neither of us recall eating them much growing up but we'll make up for it now. they were the perfect side to our beefless teriyaki burgers with grilled pineapple, mushrooms & avocado.

next veggie we're going to experiment with... eggplant. recipe suggestions welcome. the last time i ate much eggplant was in spain when it was breaded, fried & dipped in mayonnaise. i'm looking for something a little healthier this time around ;)

down in t-town.

we made our way down to tucson this weekend for a little family time. we relaxed poolside, i read a stack of magazines & made some friendship bracelets, danny got vicky and joe's technology upgraded, but the highlight was grandma peggy having us over for a good 'ole comfort food feast... homemade fried chicken, creamed corn, ham, honey glazed veggies, rolls, salad and angel food cake with fruit salad for dessert. finger lickin' good (and def not part of the coachella diet, but oh well it was tasty and i'll dance it off). after dinner, the four of us sat on grandma's back patio, reminisced and swapped stories. grandma's so spunky and full of awesome stories - her memory is incredible. hope you and your family had a nice weekend.

{my poolside view in the bockting's backyard}

{vicky's irises were blooming everywhere. lisa & mom - i totally thought of you both}

{gettin' my pre-coachella tan on}

{huntie sniffin and cruising around the compound. he loves it.}

dinner time...

{grandma peggy's vintage kitchen. this is the home joe grew up in - and not much has changed}

{not shocking... we had leftovers}

{looking at all the little wooden figurines that danny's grandpa hand carved. so cool}

{see the whole case of them behind vicky?}

{danny's grandpa buck and grandma peggy in their finest western wear back in the day}

{we topped off our saturday night with a pit stop at little anthony's car show}
