A few years ago, my parents built a vacation/retirement home on the Applegate River in Southern Oregon – it’s gorgeous and we love visiting. There’s nothing better than mom’s home cooked meals, fresh air and livin’ a little country for a weekend (I can sing every word to John Denver’s “Thank God I’m a Country Boy” – can you?).
Our past few visits have been in the fall so we’re excited to leave the fleece and boots at home and spend some time rafting down the river, fishing, eating fresh fruit & veggies, playing lots of cribbage & mexican train. Danny was especially excited when dad told him to bring some of his "granola gear" - he immediately dug out Teva water shoes, a water bottle fanny pack and extra headlamp. And yes, the boys use the headlamps plus a giant spotlight to search for animals in the meadow from the porch at night. Dweebs.
Mom & Steven – get ready for some birthday celebrating! Mom, you have to promise to model your gift for us. See you soon!
