woodsy weekend getaway.

We spent this past holiday weekend at the Bockting cabin in Pinetop, Arizona... just the four of us. About a 3.5 hour drive from home, its the perfect place to escape the heat, feel like you're not in Arizona and completely veg out.

This Weekend We...

Did some mellow hiking with Hunter & Syd.
Watched a hawk circle Sydney and swoop down to get a look.
Taught Huntie a lesson about running off in the woods.

Lounged and read in the sun (and got burned).
Grilled hot dogs & made cinnamon rolls.

Played backgammon. Danny actually backgammoned me.
He gloated. I pouted. 

Did a progressive cocktail hour thru the small town
(and paid for it the next day).

Enjoyed weather in the 80s, lows in the 50s.

Had daytime cocktails.
Laughed at small-town commercials and advertisements.
Danny got bit by gnarly spider and has the mark to prove it.
Said the Pledge of Allegiance on the Fourth of July.

 Saw a few fireworks.

Saw Eclipse & Toy Story 3 3D.

Ate lots of theater popcorn with rootbeer.

...and listened to lots of tunes*.

*This weekend's playlist included lots of: The Whitest Boy Alive, Miike Snow, John Denver, Blind Pilot, Two Door Cinema Club, Jack Johnson, Sia, The xx, Phoenix and Florence & the Machine.

We love our weekends at the cabin.
