double father's day wishes.

happy father's day
to our wonderful dads
Bill & B-Joe

you're polar opposities and for that, we thank you.
one reads books and the other rides harleys.
one wears ties and the other rocks an earring.
one calls the handy man, the other is the handy man.
it's the best of both worlds.

you've taught us so much and have made us who we are.
we love you both more than you'll ever know.

xoxo

sin city, here we come.

Yup, we're off to Las Vegas to celebrate Danny's birthday!
{image from flickr}

It's strange but true, I've never really done Vegas. Sure, I've been to Vegas, but not since turning 21 (very key).

The last time I was in Vegas, I was a month shy of being 21. It was Colby's 21st birthday and she invited a group of girls to celebrate with her in style... limos, tables at clubs, suites at the Venetian... it had all the elements of the perfect weekend minus one thing - my fake ID didn't really cut it.

Our first night, we got all dressed up and headed to the club where my ID was swiftly taken away. Damn. Colbs spent the night crying in the club because her BFF didn't get in and I spent the night alone in a hotel room. To top it off, I got a big old speeding ticket on the drive home.

Not the best first impression and I haven't been back since.

Well, that's all changing today! A couple weeks ago, we booked tickets to fly to Portland for this weekend. We were going to do the brewery tour and check out the Willamette Valley's wine country. Since we just did a mini version of that trip over Memorial Day (seen here) we weren't really feeling it, and a few days ago decided to re-route our tickets to Las Vegas!

I'm really excited and I can tell Danny is loving the idea of playing tour guide and teaching me how to gamble.

Colbs is convinced that this is really a scouting mission for her upcoming bachelorette party. And while there's a smidge of truth to that, both Ting and I are craving a wild weekend (that's another thing Colby can't believe). Her emails and phones calls to us lately have been hillarious. She kinda laughs when she talks about me in Vegas. She's "nervous" about me going and advised me to not take any "flowy floral dresses." It's totally cracking us up. What, are we lame or something? (Don't answer that)! Colbs - we know you're kidding.

Jacolby - we will never be the Party King & Queen... you guys will forever have that crown,
but I promise we'll make you proud this weekend.

happy birthday, my love.

{one of my most favorite photos. dreamy.}

i've thought about this post for a couple weeks. where would i even begin? how would i ever sum up my d in a blog post? it just feels silly so i've decided to take the short and sweet approach. let's be real,  nine years of photos, inside jokes, trips around the world and memories would make for a really long post.

so the long and the short of it, i love this man. i really do.
he's my super handy danny who can build or fix anything (so sexy).
i find his obsession with headphones, technology and car exhaust sounds cute & endearing.
i love his beard, his 'lil style and his confidence to be himself.
i love that he wants to make sure our life is perfectly imperfect and carefree.
i'm obsessed with his killer dance moves.
i envy his unwavering commitment to his beliefs and feelings.
his love for huntie melts my heart.
i love his sensitive side. the man wouldn't ever intentionally hurt someone - even a fly (seriously).
i admire how humble he is.
his work ethic and career drive insipres me to be better.
i love his outlook on life, love, work, friendship and family.

yup, he's my best friend in the whole wide world.
we went from being buddies (oh how i used to hate that nickname) to besties.
he's my number one leak and knows everything about me
(it's a little strange how we can't keep anything from one another).
he pushes me to be a better, stronger, more balanced person.
he encourages me to look at things differently. he challenges me.
his confidence in me gives me the strength to do things i typically wouldn't.
with him, i'm not scared to try anything.
life with danny is one, big, fun adventure and i cherish every minute of it.

happy birthday, my love.
i can't wait to celebrate with my very favorite person all weekend long.

p.s.
{it's been a full year of birthday posts. this my friends, may be the last. you know i love you.}

pizza war.

Ting and I love making homemade pizza. It's so fun and you feel a little less guilty about eating homemade verses store bought.

This time around, we decided to have a pizza war. We could each decorate half the pizza with anything we wanted, have a taste-off and then determine who's combo was better.

Danny decided to stick with the traditional margarita - sliced buffalo mozzarella, fresh basil (we have a new plant!) and sauce. Solid (safe) choice.

When I told Danny I was going to do sauce, a light sprinkling of shredded mozzarella cheese, sauteed red onions in olive oil, big chunks of tomato and then feta cheese crumbles on top he made the "ew gross" face, said it sounded pretty weird and that there was no chance I'd win.

Well, guess who was begging for the last slice of my pizza? Yup, the Ting. I win. Soooo delicious.

my personal stylist.

Well, not really. But, I'm very lucky to have a husband who is willing to trim my bangs for me. I'm sure my stylist appreciates it too. Anyone who has ever had bangs knows how fast they grow out (why doesn't the rest of my hair grow this fast?) and how annoying it is to have to go to the salon once every couple weeks for a three minute bang trim. Just add stylist to the list of things D is good at.

weirdo.

Huntie's been a weirdo lately. I don't know what his deal is but he's acting funny and strange. One of his new things is not wanting to come to bed. He used to be the first one in. Now, he'll stand in our doorway and when we walk towards him, he goes sprinting down the hall away from us. Nerd.

Last night we had Vicky and Joe over for dinner and our only child was super needy for attention. He'd find random things to stare at and then just bark and bark (he usually never barks).

Now this... during this morning's ride to Paw Play he decided to sit on the floor of the passenger seat and look at me with this strange look. Um, okay? Whatever dude.
